Five of the Best from the Gold Coast Rapper

Who Dis? It’s Bailey Rodrigues. The Gold Coast rapper has just dropped a shimmering summer jam blending rap with blissful house, and it seemed like a perfect opportunity to get in touch and find out what five pieces of art he wants you to check out.

Mac Miller – Jet Fuel

This is one of my favourite songs of all time. I was living in Canada by myself when I heard it for the first time and it just really connected with me and what I was going through. I got a Jet Fuel tattoo earlier this year just to show my love for Mac and his music. I highly recommend listening and reading the lyrics, Mac was so good at painting pictures with his words.

G-Eazy – These Things Happen Too

This is the first album I had on replay for grades 11-12 when I was growing up. I have so many good memories attached to it, like praying to go to house parties with my mates and driving around during summer holidays on our way to the beach. It just reminds me of those simpler times growing up and makes me happy.

Kendrick Lamar – Good Kid, m.A.A.d City

I don’t really have to say much about this album except it’s top 10 of all time. To this day I still listen to it front to back and love every song. No surprise it has been in the billboard top 200 since its release.

RUSS – Waves

My favourite Russ song of all time. The lyrics “I need you to be you for all of these people to see you / I plead you, to be who you need to / Just be in this moment, be free in this moment / You got it, you got it, you do / It's just waves” hit me so hard when this song came out. I was going through a lot and questioning a lot of things in my life. Blasting this song in my apartment suddenly made me feel like it was all good. Ever since that day I’ve been doing really well and revisit this song whenever I need reassurance.

The Shawshank Redemption

A must-see movie for anyone.

Who Dis? is out now.
