Five of the Best with EDGECLIFF

On the back of their latest single I’ll Be Gone, Northern Beaches rock troupe EDGECLIFF are about to strap on their guitars and unleash the beast at the Avalon RSL. Here are the five tracks that made them what they are today.

PINK FLOYD – Shine on You Crazy Diamond (pts 1-5)

This song is a journey! Every part of this song is beautiful. The harmonies, the lead guitar, it’s all there – and really lets this song shine. It’s taught us to leave space in music and to really allow the emotions of the music come out and tell a story. We want to bring this aspect of storytelling and emotional tones into our own discography.

POWDERFINGER – (Baby I’ve Got You) On My Mind

This song is just a good old classic rock and roll tune. It’s taught us that sometimes less is more. An incredibly complex riff and structure is not always needed. POWDERFINGER also thrive in the catchy department and we definitely try to make our songs as memorable as possible.

NIRVANA – Drain You

NIRVANA, and this song especially, has a special place in our heart. We have all been mesmerised from an early stage by the energy NIRVANA’s music brings. The simplicity and rawness of their music is something we have all been obsessed with at some point. We also specialised in NIRVANA covers during the early stages of our band!

BLACK SABBATH – War Pigs

This track is heavy and sludgy. It’s hard hitting and has some great riffs. The bass lines and drumming in the track are rock solid and fill all the spaces. Every aspect of this song is influential in our songwriting and we can thank SABBATH for that!

AC/DC – Let There Be Rock

This track in our eyes is the definition of rock n roll! We have been playing it live for years and it never gets old. The energy it brings on and off stage plus the rawness of the vocals is the reason we keep adding it to our set. This song is an AC/DC anthem, the grit and emotion along with the timeless punchy guitar riffs of Angus Young is something that’s always struck us all.

EDGECLIFF play the Avalon RSL on Saturday June 11th.
