Five of the best with LOREN KATE

If you’re only going to watch one music video this year, make it One of These Days. A devastating but ultimately hopeful portrait of an alcoholic father living in a dilapidated house, estranged from his family, it boasts a nuanced performance from Paul Reichstein, who shows more range standing at a sink than some actors show in their entire reel. The song, by Adelaide-based singer-songwriter LOREN KATE, is at once delicate and powerful, and SENSE got Loren to point to five pieces of art she wants the world to see.

Dallee Ella (printmaker)
”This woman is incredible. She handmakes paper from recycled waste products, infuses them with botanicals she either grows herself or forages and to top it off creates and carves beautiful lino prints. My current favourite artwork of hers is called Love Song for the Pollinators.

Little House Seamstress
“I don’t think I know anyone more fun than Shaye from Little House Seamstress. “Clothing as Art” is her thing. It’s slow fashion done with absolute spunk and style.”

Andrea Love (stop-motion animator and fiber artist)
”Andrea is mind-blowingly amazing. Check out the stop motion film called Tulip. It has its own IG account here. It’s an eight-minute adaptation of Thumbelina but all created tiny scale with wool!”

CHARM OF FINCHES
”Sister duo from Melbourne who are ever-evolving their sound, never scared to try new things but always remaining true to themselves. Their sound is authentic and feels like “coming home”. They are prolific songwriters, and everything they create sounds stunning to my ears.”

Lemon Myrtle
“Probably the most humble songwriter I’ve come across. Her songwriting is so insightful and her voice is stunning, effortless and beautiful. She could be playing the biggest stages around the world I reckon, but she’s just cruising, smelling the flowers and traveling the country in a van with her husband instead.”

Loren Kate’s new album Nobody Knows is released May 20. One of These Days is out now.
