TERMINAL ZERO - “Brace For The End”

Australia is well known for its good, old fashioned rock & roll. From the revolution of the 70’s, 80s and 90s comes inspiration for the artists of today. Blend those early fundamentals in with a new age approach and you will have something that resembles the sounds of Brace For The End.
TERMINAL ZERO are Matt and Simon Warnock (twins, bass, lead, drums) and the big man with an even bigger voice, Matty Searle (vocals).
Now I know what you are thinking: modern rock? Why? Isn’t the industry saturated enough as it is with mainstream rock artists sounding the very same. All merged into one as it would seem. That’s where the TZ crew take charge over everything else in this genre.
It’s a new sound. It’s fresh, melodic and groovy, and at the same time it’s dark, emotional and leaves you wondering about your existence in this place that we call home.
Usually I would pick out a few ‘stand out’ songs when reviewing, but Brace For The End made it hard in the fact that from start to finish this beast had some kind of effect on my emotions where things just hit all too close.
Matty Searle’s vocals though. This guy is a beast. Not just in his height and figure, but Matty’s vocal range in each track will make you stop singing in the shower due to pure disgust in yourself. Highs, lows, mid-range, screams, growls, raps and everything but yodelling, you will find yourself singing along with choruses that I can only envision live as massive crowd chants.
The twins, Matt & Simon, are obviously professionals that take pride in their craft. Their craft being: music that works, music that hits you emotionally and music that makes you want to move. Huge-sounding drums, ever so punchy and crisp. Wailing guitar that never gets lost in the mix, and will have you air guitaring in no time. With help from a few electronic background sounds and the fact that TZ are tight as a band, this is a serious contender for 2024 rock.
Produced by DW Norton of SUPERHEIST, I highly recommend giving Brace For The End the attention it deserves. TERMINAL ZERO have hit the nail on the head with this one.
