TRAVIS BARKER Teams Up to Make a Powerful Duo

KENNYHOOPLA has teamed up with TRAVIS BARKER for his latest single ESTELLA, which is being released today under Sony Music.

For those of you who don’t know Kenny, he is a 23 year old, LA-based recording artist who goes by the name of Kenneth La’aron when he’s not behind the mic or in front of the camera. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he grew up among a diverse range of music, art and new-age culture which led him to start exploring his own sound behind the mic at the tender age of 10 and releasing his own music at 18.
In the words of Kenny himself “I used to breakdance, I used to paint, I used to do photography. I thought if I could conquer every art medium, I’d get closer to it… something in me kept telling me it was time to make music.”
His first EP Beneath The Willow was released on SoundCloud in late 2016 and was enough to gain widespread attention for its unique sound, with his single Cave becoming the most streamed track on SoundCloud later that year. He then went on to release a series of commercial singles and videos from 2017-2019 gaining an even bigger appreciation of his original sound; a blend of indie-rock, post-punk, hip-hop and drum-and-bass.
In early 2020, Kenny continued to release a string of new tracks followed his second EP in May titled how will i sleep if i’m buried by a highway?// After gaining a prodigious reputation for his unconventional fusion of Bloc Party-esque rock, industrial and electronic sounds. He has since gone on to record 2 new versions of his single Lost Cause – one with guest vocals from GRANDSON and the other with JESSE RUTHERFORD of THE NEIGHBOURHOOD – then following it up with the announcement of his debut album.
So, in the words of Rohan from Melbourne fusion metal band TWELVE FOOT NINJA, to say that Kenny has been “busier than a cat burying sh*t on concrete” almost sounds like an understatement. In the midst of the tumultuous year that has been (and still is) 2020, KENNYHOOPLA has continued to deliver new content to satiate his audiences around the globe and tap into the appetites of those who didn’t know they were hungry for his new yet nostalgic sound.
Now comes this. Yet another collaboration, this time with global punk heavyweight TRAVIS BARKER, who himself has been busy livestreaming with the likes of POST MALONE, featuring on AMY SHARK’s latest single and releasing his own track featuring hip-hop icons RUN THE JEWELS.

ESTELLA is a track loaded with 90s-00s nostalgia with the iconic timely beats of TRAVIS BARKER breaking down punchy rhythms to lay the foundation for KENNYHOOPLA’s evocative punk-driven vocals to float above the groove. This track is a 2-minute snap into the golden age of modern punk and if you grew up in the 90s, prepare yourself for the urge to put on your baggy jeans and shake off the dust from your old skateboard while you cruise the summer streets in search of your missing teenage years.
